Brief Summary: Leadership isnt something that you are promoted to or something that falls into your lap, but it is something that you choose to be. Leaders should lead by example. Their attitudes and actions help form the climate of the school. In order to be an effective leader, leaders must have thick skin. Leaders need to be completely aware of what they can and cannot do, whether it is the policies of the school/district or the laws. Each leader should either have a contact that is knowledgeable of the laws or have a lawyer hired to their services.
Bishop John King Mussio Junior High School is a diocesan school serving the parishes of Jefferson County. Our primary mission is to provide a faith community that forms minds, hearts, and souls in the likeness of Christ. We foster the God-given gifts of our students through challenging academics, fine arts, athletics, and service, in a learning environment based on trust and mutual respect. We believe The Catholic faith must permeate the curriculum and develop disciples who value and live the Gospel teachings. Adolescents possess unique educational, social, and emotional needs that impact the learning process. Each child must be equipped with the tools necessary to reach his or her potential. It is important to serve others through the sharing of our time, treasures, and talents. The collaboration of school, family, parish, and a community is essential to a well-rounded education. Community Webpage:
Bishop John King Mussio Junior High School will add a community page to the website. The community will be able to view activities that the school is hosting and activities that they are involved in within the community. Each month different students and teachers will be responsible for creating and publishing a video that covers what activities all the students have been able to participate in that has affected the community. The video will also be a part of the community page on the schools website. The same group will be responsible for adding school events to the local news stations, WTOV9, website, where they have a community calendar that lists different happenings around the community.
Recycling:
There will be a school wide effort to recycle. There will be recycle bins placed in every classroom, cafeteria, front office, and hallways. The students will all be aware of the impact that recycling has on the community through lessons taught within their classes. There is a recycling unit that is placed in the back of the school where anyone, including all that attend at the school and anyone from the community, can use to recycle their paper and plastics.
