Years of R&D culminated in a TiC based metal matrix composite "Alloy-TiC

"(Ferrotic/Ferro-TiC/Ferro-titanite equivalent material). In Alloy-TiC, super hard,

rounded titanium-carbide micro grains are uniformly dispersed throughout tool
steel matrix . Steel alloy and TiC powders are well mixed, pressed, sintered in
vacuum furnace, and HIPped. Although TiC(Hv:3,200) is ultra-hard-harder, even,
than tungsten-carbide, Alloy-TiC could be machined by a lathe, milling &grinding
machine etc. in the annealed state and then could be hardened by heat treatment
to hardness 68-72 Rc. Our research had led to the development of each
specifically formulated alloy matrix to provide such properties as toughness,
resistance to heat, corrosion and hostile environment.

The Special Features

1. Excellent wear resistance

High wear resistance is probably Alloy-Tic's best known characteristic. The relieved
titanium carbide micro grains after lapping &polishing at the working surface solves pick-
up, galling and chipping problems and minimizes metal-to-metal contact. Their smooth,
rounded structure offers an extremely slippery and non-abrasive surface for contact.

2. Low density of Alloy-TiC offers cost-down effect

Alloy-TiC is light in weight; in fact, it is one third lighter than steel, less than one half the
weight of tungsten carbide. It offers reasonable price of Alloy-TiC according to the higher
mass effect with low density and relatively low cost of changing tools and bearings etc.

3. Alloy-TiC is the only machinable carbide composite

In annealed state, Rc43-45 hardness of Alloy-TiC could be machined by a conventional

equipment. After quenching, it becomes one of Rc68-72 hardness carbide composites
which is stable in dimensional transformation within ¡¾0.00025mm/mm.

4. Alloy-TiC is zero defect sintered carbide composite

Alloy-TiC is virtually porosity free sintered carbide composite by a treatment of HIP (hot
isostatic pressing)
