Lauren Mullen 315 Chaucer Place Leesburg, VA 20176 April 13, 2012 [Recipient Name] [Title] [Company Name]

[Street Address] [City, ST ZIP Code] Dear [Recipient Name]: My name is Lauren Mullen, and I grew up playing softball through the Leesburg Girls Softball League. I have played softball for over ten years, six of which have been at the travel level, and I played on Heritage High Schools Varsity Softball team. I currently attend Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, VA, and I am working towards a degree in Liberal Studies for Elementary Education. It is my belief that success in sports starts in the community, and it would be a wonderful opportunity for me to be able to give back the organization and to help to educate and train the girls who come through your program. I have designed this camp for exactly that purpose. This proposal describes the design of the camp, including the curriculum, hours, skills to be taught, cost, materials, and purpose. OBJECTIVE This camp is designed to instill the fundamentals of softball in girls aged 7 to 14. This camp will cover the basics of throwing and catching, fielding, hitting, base running/sliding, and strategic play as well as develop practice skills as well as game experience, and teach the values of teamwork and sportsmanship in our players. After this camp, the camper will be able to demonstrate a fundamental knowledge as well as display ability in the areas of throwing, catching, fielding, hitting, base running/sliding, and strategic play; measurable through the instructors observation of the players in the scrimmages throughout the week and the game between parents and campers at the end of the week. Waivers and legal forms BENEFITS This camp is beneficial to everyone involved. The organization would be providing a fun and educational service to the players in the Leesburg Girls Softball League, as well as members of the Leesburg Community. When camps and clinics are implemented and available to players at a young age it gives players an opportunity to learn fundamentals of softball, so that they are better perfect their skills later on in preparation of competing at the travel level.
