Mr. Espinosa C/Bernardo Martin Perez, 3 37005 Salamanca, Spain Dear Mr. Espinosa I am a student at the University of Texas at El Paso in the Social Work program for early childhood intervention (ECI). I am interested in moving to Spain this December after I graduate because I would like to experience the different programs offered for child development and I would like to learn how hospitals and agencies deal with special need babies compared to us here in the United States. I appreciate any information about job postings that you can provide for me. During my internship services at school I had been a volunteer at different places such as hospitals, resource centers, schools, and I had to attend to house visits to see how the social worker had to manage the case of the baby. All of the families I had the chance to visit were Spanish speaking families and as a bilingual intern I had to translate for doctors, therapists, teachers, and anybody who needed Spanish assistance. These are some of the expectations that social workers need to have in order to be considered for working: Must volunteer in hospitals, schools, or anything that best suits the area of the social worker (ex. Working with children, teens, Adults, and elderly) Know how to deal with parents who are in denial of the sickness or delay of the baby Need to file cases every week to keep supervisor informed about the families, babies, therapists, counselors, doctors. Must keep families updated with doctor appointments, teacher conferences at school, and provide the families comfort and hope for their babys progress.

I am really looking forward to be working in Spain as a social worker and will be waiting for your response. I will be glad to send you more information about the requirements to be a social worker. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at kasalcido@miners.utep.edu or at (915)358-9817.
