Arnold My Educational Philosophy Final Draft On teaching and learning: I would take a more constructivist approach with my students. I value the socratic method. I want my students to observe, experiment, and hypothesis to discover the answers that are most relevant to their personal context. Although, I believe that a transmission approach will be necessary for the boys in certain situations. On students: I believe that all students can learn. Everyone has the capacity to grow. Regardless of ethnicity, age, gender, or lifestyle, growth is a basic qualification for life. I will have high expectations of them, for they are the future. Each childs love language needs to be considered when interacting with them. Love languages can be difficult to figure out but should be catered to once it is found. On knowledge: I hope to engage my students on all levels of Bloom's taxonomy. I believe that understanding concepts and trends will aid students in dissecting the details and exceptions. Details should be presented with bigger concepts for memory retention. On what is worth knowing: I believe the world's languages, cultures and values, are ever changing. Our communication technology is faster every year. We are becoming globalized; we are one people. I would not want to teach my students a set of beliefs and skills that are bound to the context of this time. I want to be of the future. My students will learn how to reason, communicate effectively, and solve problems. Context is everything when it comes to academic acquisition. On the philosophical areas: I believe that it is good to be well-rounded in all philosophical areas, as a situation may present itself where a teacher must appeal to one over the other. A teacher must have insight and a diversity of perspectives. I believe I must have a working knowledge of all of them in order to choose which one I orient myself too and when. If I had to choose one, I feel that I am progressive
