Brochure
Description:
This was a project for my COMM 130 class in which I had to make a pamphlet with at least two folds using a logo that I developed, a full bleed photo and some text wrap.

Date:
December 7, 2013

Course/Instuctor:
COMM 130 Section 2 Julie Peterson

Program(s)/tools:
Adobe Indesign, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop

Objectives:
Set up and align a two-sided, folded document. Create an original company logo and use it in a brochure. Incorporate quality images. Trim for a full bleed and print in duplex color.

Process:
The first thing that I did was to play with some blank sheets of paper in order to find the shape and folds I wanted and thought would work well with the information I was going to show. Then I worked the dimensions into Indesign to get that some idea in a work space that I could start adding pictures and text. After adding text and pictures I printed a copy to see if my design was practical.

Logos
Description:
For my COMM 130 class I had to create three logo examples. This project was to show how to use Illustrator in designing vector logos. The three logos I did were for a Longboarding company that I am building a website for. I tried to make three different types of logos so that they could see what type of feel they are wanting. I hope that the logos show what the company is looking for.

Adobe Illustrator

Objectives:
Create a variety of logos to fit a company. DSetting up a professional display for the company. Arrange three logos on an 8.5 x 11 vertical page.

Process:
I started by writing down Karma Tech in over fifteen different types of fonts to look to the image the fit the company. Then I selected three to work with and began to play with the text tool to find the format that had good flow. For the first and second logos I used the line segment tool, the transform reflection tool and the pen tool to make shapes out of simple text. With the third logo I used the Ellipse tool to make the circle shape. After playing with color and size I got it ready to post on the web.

Process:
I started out by creating a 8.5 by 11 document then adding the first image to the background. Then I added the second image and applied a layer mask to blend the two layers together. I then applied the angled stroke filter to both images. Next I applied the text using two fonts and then applied the two blue lines to create contrast between the font and Snowboarders. The last step was to resize and upload.

Program(s)/tools:
Adobe Indesign, and Adobe Photoshop

Apply the design principles and use appropriate typography. Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic flier layout. Retrieve image and logo from links on this page. Create a project folder with image, logo and InDesign document to keep links intact.

Process:
I cropped the picture in photoshop then transferred it to inDesign. I went over the text to make sure the spelling was correct and then I played with the text to get it to flow well with the picture. I also used a simple layout to display the message in and easy to read, easy to understand flier. Overall I feel it displays the message in the way that Vouant Communications would like.
