DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCES AND HUMANITIES GE6152 ENGINEERING GRAPHICS ASSIGNMENT 1

1. A fixed point f is 75 mm apart from the fixed straight line. Draw the locus of a point P moving in such a way that its distance from the fixed straight line is 3/2 times of its distance from focus. Identify the curve. Draw the tangent and normal at any point on the curve. 2. A circle of diameter 40 mm rolls on a straight line without slipping. Draw the locus of point P on the circumference of the circle for 3/4th of its revolution. Draw the tangent and normal at any point on the curve. 3. Draw the path traced by a point on the circumference of the circle of diameter 50 mm which rolls over another circle of diameter 180 mm without slipping. Draw the tangent and normal at any point on the cycloid. 4. Draw the path traced by a point on the circumference of the circle of diameter 40 mm which rolls inside another circle of diameter 200 mm without slipping. Draw the tangent and normal at any point on the curve. 5. An inelastic string of length 120 mm is wound around a drum of diameter 30 mm. Draw the path traced by the end of the string when it is unwound from the drum. Also draw the tangent and normal at any point on the curve.
