practicum for David Hadley, Student UQ MMH- Art Therapy. This service is offered
until December 09

What is Art therapy?

Art therapy is a process between the art therapist and client, where a safe empathic supportive
relationship is built. The client is engaged in a creative art therapeutic activity. Art therapy helps to
process feelings that are outside the limits of verbal communication, giving the client opportunities to
understand there inner world, and respond to life’s events
It is different than art making in that it concentrates on the process, not the finished product of an art
piece.
One does not need to have any art background in drawing or using art materials. The aim is to foster
the creative expression of the client, and to improve the quality of life particularly in relation to self
esteem and relationships with others.
