Myth #1 - “I can motivate people”

Not really!!! they


have to motivate
themselves.
You can set up an
environment.
Key is knowing how
to set up the
environment.
Myth #2 - “Money is a good motivator”

Money can prevent


from becoming less
motivated.
Money only motivates
the lower slot.
 As employees get older,
interesting work becomes
more of a motivator.
Myth #3 - "Fear is a damn good motivator"

Fear is a great
motivator but only for a
very short time.
Lot of yelling from the
boss, don’t spark the
light in a long run.
Too much of bawl out
can also ruin one’s self
esteem.
Myth #4 - "I know what motivates me, so
I know what motivates my employees"
Not really!!! people
are not motivated
with same things.
What you do for one
employee could
demotivate other.
Keys is to understand
the individual
employee.
Myth #5 - "Increased job satisfaction
means increased job performance"
If organization goals
are not aligned with
employees, then
increased job
satisfaction has no
implications.
Govt. employee
though highly
satisfied but yet a
poor performer.
How Should be the Environment
• direction, resources and respect
employees for work keeps them
motivated, and desire for achievement
never comes down.
