Naturally .1 question arises — what is the mystery behind the name of < i,i/irpara? The ancient name of Gazirpara was 'Bhupal\ That name is still listed in some Governmental offices.
Hazrat Shajalal came to Sylhet for preaching Islam,
•ccompanied with 360 companions from Yemen about 700 \i-;irs ago. Sha-Gazi was one of those 360 fellows. Hazrat Shajalal sent each of his 360 followers to different places of Sylliet Distict for inviting people to come to the Islam Maintaining that harmony, Hazrat Sha-Gazi came to our village .iiul established his residing place in the solitary place of the \u-stern part of our village, on the bank of the river ^ s ' WRTT "^rnft?'!>r^5T" 'Borobhaga" and started preaching Islam in our said village and iii-ar by villages. After his name, our villages are familiar as "( i;i/,irpara".
