Background Information
Waste incineration releases harmful chemicals including: dioxins, lead, cadmium and mercury into the atmosphere Chemical reaction type: -combustion reaction

Recycling is important because it saves the amount of greenhouse gasses being released into the air if burned. It also helps decrease the creation of landfills.

Purpose

The purpose of creating a recycled product was to decrease the production of green house gasses from waste incineration.

Procedures

1. Rolled up sheets of newspaper (like sushi) 2.Glued the rolls together to form a box shape 3.Painted the whole thing in a teal color If our product was trashed, it would have produced 189.21L of CO2

Calculations (balanced equation)

We used paper (newspaper). The chemical formula for paper is C6H10O5 (cellulose). We had used 1 mole of newspaper The correct balanced chemical reactions using our materials are: 1C6H10O5 + 6O2 6CO2 + 5H2O

There are 228.07 gram of greenhouse emissions There are 31.53 liters of greenhouse emissions that would have been produced

There are 8.47x1023 molecules of greenhouse emissions that would have been produced

Conclusion

We can fill up at least 16 2-Liter bottles of greenhouse gas emissions that could be saved One way that you might be able to limit the the amount of trash that you produce is by recycling things such as plastic or paper. Another way can be to to inform others of the benefits of recycling
