Teaching Philosophy

I anticipate being the facilitator of learning, inspiration and inquiry. I want to help my students become better observers and gain an insatiable curiosity for the world. Through my teachings I want my students to learn more about themselves and about others, to value the differences that make us all unique and to embrace their own uniqueness. I want my students to loose the fear of making errors, because errors are part of the learning process and when they are not afraid to make errors they are willing to take risks, to speak their mind, to think outside the box and answer from their intuition rather than from words on a book or computer.

My philosophy is that the students learning should be natural and enjoyable. To be a good Art educator one must implement the 4 major disciplines of art; aesthetics, art criticism, art History and studio. The cohesion of all of its disciplines when teaching art will engage the students, ask for their participation and their creativity to make a rich lesson.

An additional Key to teaching art is to apply a differential instruction. It is a priority to use common sense and allow flexibility to our lessons plans when modifications could be improvised to benefit the students learning. When teaching, one must be sensitive to the individuality of each student; to consider the students cultural and economic backgrounds, to be aware that they all have different learning styles and are at different artistic stages of development, depending on age, intellectual knowledge and experience. I want to make a positive difference in my students lives, on broadening their education so that they become well rounded, so that they learn how to take good and healthy decisions and become curious life long learners. So that they grow to be free thinkers and functional global citizens.
