December 19th, 2013 Dear Parent/Guardian, ISD 192 elementary and middle school attendance area changes were

approved at the December 9th, 2013 school board meeting. These changes will take effect the 2014-15 school year. These changes also affect students attending our schools under the state Open Enrollment program. Under the Open Enrollment program your child is entitled to attend a school in our district. However, your child is not guaranteed a specific school. If you wish to have your child(ren) continue at the school they are currently attending, two options will be available for communicating this request. If your child will be entering 5th or 8th grade for the 2014-15 school year, they can remain at their current school. If you are interested in this option, please complete the attached 5th and 8th Grade Enrollment Request form. Requests for all other grades, including students entering Kindergarten next year, will be subject to a lottery system. Rank choice lottery selection will be conducted on a per family basis at both the elementary and middle school level. If you have both elementary and middle school students, please fill out one form for the elementary lottery and one for the middle school lottery. Space in each school is limited and some first choice applications will not be selected by the lottery. If you are not chosen for your first ranked school and do not provide a 2nd choice, you will automatically be placed at the building geographically closest to your first selection that has available space. Otherwise, you will be entered in the selection of your second and third choice. Lottery results will be communicated to families by February 15th, 2014. If you are interested in either of these two options, you must complete the enclosed application(s) and return it to us, postmarked no later than January 15th, 2014.
