Calderone Named Deputy County Executive

Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy has named Philip Calderone Deputy County Executive effective January 1, 2014. Phil brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge of law and government to the position. He is very effective in getting things done, said McCoy. As Deputy Mayor of the City of Albany for 17 years, Calderone helped develop some of the most notable policies and laws including state legislation providing for payments in lieu of taxes on the Empire State Plaza, state legislation creating the Albany Convention Center Authority and was a principal author of the city of Albanys existing Charter. This isnt the first time Calderone has worked for Albany County. Calderone was also a principal partner for a number of years in the highly regarded A-rated Albany law firm of Garry, Cahill, Edmunds & Calderone. He worked for the county from 1982-1996 as a Legal Counsel and ultimately as Executive Deputy County Attorney before becoming Albanys Deputy Mayor. Im looking forward to returning to county government and to assisting the County Executive in advancing an agenda that will continue his efforts to make Albany County one of the most innovative and dynamic counties in the state for growth, development and economic opportunity for all of our county residents, said Calderone. Calderone also led the city in its efforts to be recognized as an All-America city. He is a graduate of Siena College and Albany Law School. ###
