WHAT WOULD YOU

CALL THEM?
They offer Tahajjud salaah in the midst of the night. They wake up for
Suhur at pre-dawn. They adhere to fasting very religiously. They recite
the Holy Qur’an very profoundly. They hymn their Tasbeeh very
regularly. They never miss Takbeer-e-oola of each Fardh salaah and they
never get tired of offering numerous Nawafil salaah. They avoid
quarreling with people even if they are provoked. They never miss the
twenty raqaa of Taraweeh. They do not watch movies / TV even at night.
Neither do they involve themselves in frivolous talk. They avoid
backbiting, gossiping and telling lies. They do not waste their time
playing games. Their faces reflect a new height in religious fervor.

Welcome to the world of these ‘Very Special People’ – a group that

reflects an amazing and unusual degree of piety.

There is one BIG PROBLEM (note the use of capital letters), however,
with this group of ‘Very Special People’. And that problem is: their piety,
their religious steadfastness, their performance of Tahajjud salaah and
even their regularity and punctuality in offering Fardh Salaah, their
reciting of the Holy Qur’an, their temper restraint, their refraining from
watching movies and TV are restricted to RAMADHAN only. As soon as
the month of Ramadhan Kareem is over this group of ‘Very Special
People’ go back to their old life full of vices like backbiting, telling lies,
watching movies, quarreling, missing salaah with Jamaat (and at times,
missing altogether) etc.

For eleven months these people behave in the most un-Islamic way but
during that one month (Ramadhan) they get transformed into very pious
Muslims. What would you call them?

1/12 Muslims?
Allah knows best.

May He save us from His wrath and grant us His mercy…AMEEN
