In our recent OFSTED educational inspection we were graded outstanding in all areas. These are some of the things the report said about us:

The nursery school provides exceptionally high quality care and education for all children who attend. Staff have a thorough understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) therefore the learning and development opportunities are exceptional and support each childs personal development. Children are engrossed in their learning due to the imaginative methods of teaching used by the staff team.

We provide a high quality learning environment, with experienced and motivated staff, ensuring a selection of varied resources available to every child. Teachers treat each child as an individual, establishing relationships of interest, concern and support.

Rolfes Nursery School strives for excellence in all areas of the curriculum. We plan and teach a needs based programme, catering to each childs specific educational requirements.

Children are very confident and independent and their self-esteem is actively promoted. They are eager to put their hands up and answer the open ended questions posed by staff, who act as positive role models, as they encourage children to have good manners and respect for one another and their friends. Childrens work is displayed attractively around the building, which makes the nursery a welcoming environment to all.

The staff know children and their families exceptionally well, for example they are aware of children's specific needs such as their rituals when they arrive in the morning, which enables them to provide consistently high quality care and attention to each and every child.

At Rolfes Nursery School, we feel that high quality pre-school provision is very important in assisting the overall development of the young child. We follow both the National Curriculum and Montessori Philosophy to provide children with a wealth of experiences which will help them develop self awareness, a high level of self esteem, and equip them with the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to achieve their full potential.

Our School Curriculum

Play is a crucial element in each childs development and a motivating factor in their learning. The nursery curriculum, therefore, is based on learning through play which is mainly child initiated. The staff will observe and evaluate the learning which is taking place and, where necessary, structure and guide it so that children derive maximum benefit. We have a secret garden hidden inside our school building, providing a safe outdoor space for learning and play. Our programme also includes weekly gym, salsa, music, French, art, dance and yoga lessons.

The staff are trained and experienced in the provision of early years education. As professionals in the education sector, you can be confident that they will have undergone rigorous security screening. We allow and encourage opportunities at the beginning and end of each session so that you can have a brief and informal chat with your childs class teacher about your childs progress and development. There are also parents evenings throughout the year, at which an appointment slot is allocated for you to meet and discuss your childs progress with his/her teacher.
