    TEMPERS are flaring in Manningham following the resignation cf councillor Jessica Villarreal. Citing overwhelming family commitments, Ms Villarreal tendered her immediate resignation on Friday, May 25, angering residents and leaving councillors to fight about her replacement. Doncaster resident Susie Howard said the treatment Koonung Ward ratepayers had received was a disgrace. "Everyone's appalled and I no longer have any confidence in the democratic process because we have not been in any way properly represented," Ms Howard said. Ms Howard said the past three years had been filled with disappointment with former councillors Fred Chuah and Charles Pick both resigning mid-term and Ms Villarreal attending W few council commitments I and missing most meetings. As the vacancy falls with- . , in six months of October's election, the council was not bound to carry out the $5000 ~ countback process and ap- n point a new councillor. Cr Stephen Mayne said residents had every right to feel angry and should focus on electing engaged councillors in October. Ms Villarreal could not be <3 contacted for comment.
