8 Cabinet Groups of the BTS3012 (for 18 TRXs)

The BTS3012 can hold more TRXs through cabinet groups. One BTS3012 cabinet can hold up
to 18 TRXs and three grouped cabinets can hold up to 54 TRXs.

Definitions of Cabinet Groups

The BTS3012 cabinet groups are used when the number of TRXs required for synchronized
cells exceeds 18. One cabinet is called a cabinet group. The cabinet group that provides
synchronized clock serves as the main cabinet group. The other cabinet groups are extension
cabinet groups.
One BTS3012 cabinet group supports up to 18 TRXs. A maximum of three cabinet groups can
be used to implement the S18/18/18 cell configuration. The BTS3012 can be grouped with the
BTS312.

Implementation of Cabinet Groups

The distance between two cabinets should be less than 2 m when the cabinet groups are
implemented. E1 cables are directly connected to the DTMUs of the cabinets. The DTMU of
the main cabinet transmits the clock and OM signals to the cabinets of the extension cabinet
groups.
For the principles for configuring the BTS3012, refer to 12 Configuration of the BTS3012.
For details on the clock signal flow for the cabinet groups, refer to 10 Synchronization of the
BTS3012 Clock . For details on the data signal flow and control signal flow for the cabinet
groups, refer to 11.4 Signal Flow of BTS3012 Cabinet Groups. For details on the OM signal
flow for the cabinet groups, refer to OM structure of the BTS.
