The Seven Wonders of our Region is a Comenius eTwinning project involving 7 schools from Slovakia, The Czech Republic, Poland, Turkey, Greece, Scotland and Cyprus. The project will last two school years, 2013 2015. The project idea is to explore the seven wonders of a region 20 km around the place where our schools are situated. The seven wonders are: the highest place, the oldest historical place, the most tasteful traditional meal, the most important personality, the most interesting traditional handicraft, the healthiest place and the most attractive place. The project will motivate our pupils to explore and discover the beauties and interests of the closest surrounding where they live, be interested in the regions of the partner schools, perceive Europe as home without national borders and as the living space of own future for working and living opportunities. Working for the project the pupils will improve the use of English and ICT, develop the ability of working in teams as well as their ability to collect pieces of information in different forms, record them in various forms and present their discoveries to their classmates, partner schools and the public. Moreover, they will have the chance to communicate with the pupils of partner schools by participating in e conferences and in some cases in the nobilities for the project. The teachers will acquire professional and personal theory through exploring other school systems, traditions, school habits, educational programmes, improve their knowledge about European thinking and culture, acquire a closer and informal relationship to their pupils, be motivated to improve their skills on foreign languages and especially English and ICT. Finally, the participating schools will incorporate the European dimension into the school learning programmes and will be the good examples for other schools to show them that they are able to implement European projects and have international partnerships.

After coming back to our town, we updated the Comenius Corner and put the materails which other countries gave us. A video was created by one of the teachers and presented to the all students between 18th and 25th November.
We put our photos taken abroad and this encouraged students to attend the exams which will be held to select the students on 3rd December.
Pupils in 2nd Grade were wanted to draw KARASENR MOUNT, the highest point. They were free to draw because we wanted them to use their own imaginative skills. These pictures were put on the corner on 27th November.

Blackfriars primary announced the start of the Comenius project at their assembly in October.
Some Primary 6 children helped to make a video about our school to put on the Twinspace website. We have been using the internet to research our partner countries. Primary 6 made some posters about the 7 countries to display in our Comenius corner.
Page 11
Primary 1,2 and 3 made postcards of themselves to send to the children in the other countries. We sent them with Comenie Mouse. Comenie Mouse is going to visit all the countries and send some pictures back to us, we hope!

We visited Lefkara village, the highest and most important place of our region. It is a beautiful and small village with a population of 1000 people. It is called Lefkara from the color of the local white rocks which were used for building.
Lefkara is also famous for its silver jewelry made from local craftsmen. We visited a local craftsman who showed us how are these jewelry made. They are gorgeous. You can buy them in jewelry shops. We also visited Lefkaras church, dedicated to the Holy Cross. It is an old and
very beautiful church which has a real piece of the Jesus Christ Cross!
We walked through Lefkaras narrow streets. It was a great experience. The streets are made of the local white rock. The traditional houses are made of the local white rock too. We visited a traditional house and saw the items that were used by the locals. It was fascinating.
Page 13
We enjoyed our trip to Lefkara village very much. It was a life experience. We prepared a short video with our comments too. Please watch it at http://youtu.be/ dcoEuYXSjnI. You will adore Lefkara. Best regards The sixth classes and their teachers:
In the beginning of October, our pupils visited the two highest places in our region: Mountain Imitos, grade 2 and Mountain Parnitha, grades 5 and 6. They hiked and a guide informed them about the mountains, their fauna & flora, and carried our various activities.
YEAR 1, VOLUME 1
Page 14
When coming back, they decided that Mountain Parnitha is the highest place and thus the winner. They made bookmarks, posters with photos and information about the mountains, the model of a mountain, drew pictures, wrote stories and we prepared a PPT with the outcome of the pupils works.
In the beginning of November, we participated in the 1st & 2nd Comenius meetings in the partner schools in Slovakia & the Czech Republic. It was a great experience and we were impressed with the work the pupils of both schools have done for the project and not only. After our return, we presented both schools to our pupils.
In December, we made our Christmas cards and mailed them to all schools. We also had a videoconference with the Cypriot school during which we sang Christmas songs to each other. The products of our work on the project as well as some of our partners work are periodically exhibited on the
project board in the entrance of our school. Our work is regularly uploaded in the school blog blogs.sch.gr/5dimnsmyrn/ as well as in the twinspace and the common project blog.
