The Berlin Wall

The Berlin Wall was a dividing wall between East Berlin and West Berlin, and it was built in 1961. It was put up to keep East Berliners out of West Berlin, and it was located in the heart of the city. I have been studying Germany in my Global Studies class and saw a black and white photo of the Berlin Wall. The wall was in the bottom right corner and extends into the top left corner. It had barbed wire fences and poles holding them up on the top of it so people couldnt escape. There are hundreds of people on the left also in the west. They were sad, scared, worried, and silent thinking about their friends in the right also East Berlin. On the right there was a guard with a gun. Next to the guard there was a road, and it was adjacent to the wall and the buildings were adjacent to the road. There are about five buildings in the east. In front of the buildings in the east there are very torn up roads. Also there are buildings in the top left corner that goes off into the distance. In addition, there are three street blocks of buildings in the East. In conclusion, the wall finally came down in 1989 and everyone rejoiced. The effort to keep people East Berliners out of West Berlin failed and people were so happy.
