where Dtisthetimebetweensuccessivepeaksoftheoutputwaveformfromthe rectifiercircuit.Thiswillbe10msiftheacfrequencyis50Hzandafullwavebridge rectifiercircuitisused.(But20msifahalfwaverectifiercircuitisused thequestion couldspecifyadifferentsupplyfrequency,eg60Hz,whichwouldalsoaffect Dt.) Thisformulaisanapproximationandassumesthattheripplevoltageissmall.Ifthe ripplevoltageexceeds~10%thisformulabecomesincreasinglyinaccurate.
