Hello
Hello class, today we will be learning how to solve multi step equations. I know it sounds hard, but it really isnt. All you need to know is how to solve one step equations, how to solve equations with like terms and inequalities and how to find variables. Here is the first problem.

Problem #1
The Theater Club would like to take a trip to the local theater to see a play. They need to pay for admission to the play, lunch at the theater, and transportation to and from the theater. Admission to the play is $3 per person, and lunch costs $6 per person. It costs $55 for the round trip bus ride. The club has raised $244 for the total cost of the trip. How many people can go on the trip?

Answer
After reading this problem we know that it is set up and solved like this.

How
I solved problem one by simplifying the variables, then I subtracted 55, to clear the variable side, the divided the coefficient.

Questions
Some questions you way be having are why do we need to know this. Well, you need to know this simply because it is important in life. You also may be asking how do I set the equation up. You set up the equation by putting the unknowns, the variables in parentheses, then put everything in its spot as show. Now we will try a new problem.

Problem #2
A group of friends are going to a mini-golf course. It costs $15 to play 18 holes. To buy one ball costs $1. To rent one club costs $6. They have $57 to spend on the trip. How many people can play a full game of mini-golf with a club and a ball?

Solving
You solve that like this.

How
Hear I did the same thing to solve. I solved it by simplifying the variables, then I subtracted 15, to clear the variable side, the divided the coefficient.

Finally
Now class, we have learned how to set up and solve multi step equations. But class, just remember that you do the same things as a one step equation again and again. Thats all for today. Class dismissed.
