c) Rewrite the function so that t = 0 represents 2000. Explain how you got your answer.

The function t=0 representing 2000 would be 20.5+0.035(t-10)^2. The negatives moves it to the right ten times, because 1990 is 10 years away from 2000. d) Use the model from part (c) to predict the amount of fuel used by trucks in 2015. Does your answer seem reasonable? Explain. The amount of fuel used on the graphs trend at 2015 will be 25 billion gallons. This answer does not seem to be very reasonable based on the rising trend the graph shows.

6. (4 points) Use the information in the table.

a) What are the three real zeros of the polynomial function f? The real zeroes of the polynomial functions are -2, 1 and 4 b) What can be said about the behavior of the graph of f at x=0? The end behavior of the graph of f at x=0 is approaching oo c) What is the least possible degree of f? Explain. Can the degree of f ever be even? Explain. The least possible degree of f is 3. This is because the line changes its direction three times. The degree of f cannot be even, because the end behavior is heading in the same direction both ways as oo x oo. 7. (2 points) During a flu outbreak, a hospital recorded 12 cases the first Week, 54 cases the second week, and 243 cases the third Week. a) Write a geometric sequence to model the flu outbreak. Sequence: 12, 54, 243 Geometric sequence is an+a1(r)^(n-1) -a1 is the first term, in this sequence the number is 12 -r indicated the common ratio, in this sequence it is 4.5 To find the difference you divide the second term by the first 1. r=54/12 2. 9/2 3. an=12(9/2)^(n-1)
