At present there is no cure for cystic fibrosis.

There is a lot of research under way to try to find a cure for it through gene therapy or drug therapy to target the CFTR gene. Many of these treatments are undergoing clinical trials. There are however treatments that are being used on sufferers of Cystic Fibrosis aiming to primarily: Treat existing chest infections and prevent further damage to the lungs improve nutrition by providing supplements containing enzymes to help digestion

These treatments can help the person affected by CF as they can ease some of the symptoms, improve the quality of their life and therefore extend their life span.

MEDIACTION -Bronchodilators

How/when it can be given


drugs to be inhaled through a nebuliser air is blown through a solution, making a fine mist breathed into lungs via a mouthpiece tablets, capsules, syrup ,injection inhaled through a nebuliser
