Independent Diagnostic Service identified a power transformer with elevated oil temperatures up to 200°C due to eddy currents caused by issues with gaskets in current transformer boxes and bushings at the low voltage side. An infrared camera identified specific hot spots and a solution involving circulating oil and installing copper clamps to reduce eddy currents was able to lower temperatures to below 160°C, solving the long-standing problem of high oil temperatures in the transformer.
