it is whether we are receptive to the style of music, whether we are receptive t o the message of the music.

the music can sound 'happy', but it will not necessarily make one 'feel' how it sounds. only if our spirit 'agrees' with the music's message do we then begin to 'feel' or experience and fully agree to the music's message. otherwise, if both soul and music do not agree, there is a separation, a dividin g... and so it is if the Spirit of God is in me, giving discernment... if the message or speak or spirit of the music is contrary to God's spirit in me , then there is a disturbing of my spirit by the holy spirit. so then i want to turn off the music! also, we seek out a complimentary music spirit - if we are living by the spirit of the world, the old man, adam, then we seek out the music that stirs our flesh . if we are living by the spirit of the living God, then our spirit seeks out the music which expresses love for God.
