Unit Outline

Day 1: One-Step Equations


Class will begin with a journal entry. Next, students will be introduced to one-step equations. They will watch a video located on the class website and then use their digital text to complete practice problems. At the end of the period they will independently complete and Interactive Quiz from their digital text.

Day 2: Two-Step Equations


Class will begin with a journal entry. Next, students will be introduced to two-step equations. They will watch a video located on the class website and then use their digital text to complete practice problems. At the end of the period they will independently complete and Interactive Quiz from their digital text.

Day 3: Multi-Step Equations


Class will begin with a journal entry. Next, students will be introduced to multi-step equations. They will watch a video located on the class website and then use their digital text to complete practice problems. At the end of the period they will independently complete and Interactive Quiz from their digital text.

Day 4: Equations with Variables on Both Sides


Class will begin with a journal entry. Next, students will be introduced to equations with variables on both sides. They will watch a video located on the class website and then use their

digital text to complete practice problems. At the end of the period they will independently complete and Interactive Quiz from their digital text.

Day 5: Concept Connection


Students will be placed into their pre-assigned groups and complete a Concept Connection activity found in their digital textbook. Each group will be assigned a PC and they will complete a PowerPoint Presentation demonstrating their work.

Day 6: WebQuest
Class will begin with a journal entry. Then they will be placed into pairs to complete a WebQuest. The link for the WebQuest will be located on the class website and a worksheet will be handed out. Each student will turn in a completed worksheet at the end of the period.

Day 7: Solving Proportions


Class will begin with a journal entry. Next, students will be introduced to solving proportions. They will watch a video located on the class website and then use their digital text to complete practice problems. At the end of the period they will independently complete and Interactive Quiz from their digital text.

Day 8: Solving Literal Equations for a Variable


Class will begin with a journal entry. Next, students will be introduced to solving literal equations with a variable. They will watch a video located on the class website and then use their

digital text to complete practice problems. At the end of the period they will independently complete and Interactive Quiz from their digital text.

Day 9: Absolute Value Equations


Class will begin with a journal entry. Next, students will be introduced to absolute value equations. They will watch a video located on the class website and then use their digital text to complete practice problems. At the end of the period they will independently complete and Interactive Quiz from their digital text.

Day 10: Concept Connection


Students will be placed into their pre-assigned groups and complete a Concept Connection activity found in their digital textbook. Each group will be assigned a PC and they will complete a PowerPoint Presentation demonstrating their work.

Day 11: Final Project/ Outline or Story Board


Students will begin with a journal entry. Next, they will placed into pre-assigned groups and watch a few different variations of math music video. The link is on our class website. Each group will choose 1 topic from our unit to make a video about. By the end of class they should have an outline or story board of their video complete.

Day 12: Shoot Video

Students will immediately begin shooting their video. They may choose the shot location and use any props necessary to complete their video. By the end of the period all video shots should be complete.

Day 13: Video Editing


Students will immediately get into their groups and begin editing their video. By the end of class today videos should be completely edited and submitted for grading

Day 14: Video Sharing


Today we will share each groups video as a form of reviewing concepts for tomorrow test. If time remains at end of class we will do more guided review.

Day 15: Challenge Day


The class will spend the first ten minutes reviewing for todays challenge then they will have the rest of the class period to complete the challenge. If they finish early they can play on coolmath.com.
