Like a Bird

By: Mabel Marte Taveras

Fly, fly high! Like a bird, spread your wings And feel your face against the wind Delight yourself on the rush On standing there up above, And then when it feels like you have known That which you have always yearned for Once again come back to me. Oh! Fly, fly in circles in the sky And dare to try a risky flight. Go to places never seen, Let your instinct guide your trip Meet your mate and try have kids And when you begin to pine for earth And freedom is no longer in the air Return to me. As a bird, If you start to miss the vast sky Lean on me Ill be your ally. So if your heart yields to longing And the earth becomes your prison Then again I will help you flee. You will fly and live up to Feel the wind against your skin And the world under your feet; As your flap your wings to gain lift. Anew your fly my dear friend And be once again, Like a Bird.
