What is
Chikungunya Fever

Chikungunya fever is a viral illness that is


spread by the bites of infected mosquitoes.

MODE OF TRANSMISSION
The virus is transmitted from human to human by the bites of infected female mosquitoes.

Signs and Symptoms

Abrupt onset of FEVER, usually last for 1 to 3 days.

Joint Pain, Swelling and Stiffness

Rashes

Nausea and Vomiting Headache

Treatment NO SPECIFIC TREATMENT!!!


SYMPTOMATIC ONLY...

PREVENTION
1. Avoid mosquito bites:

a. Wear clothes that cover as


much skin as possible.

b. Use mosquito repellents on exposed skin and on clothing in accordance instructions with label

PREVENTION

babies, older and sick people and others who rest during the day.

coils

and

insecticides vaporizers during daytime.

PREVENTION
2. Reduce mosquito breedings:

Remove discarded containers from around


the house,

For containers that are in use, turn them over or empty every 3-4 days to prevent mosquito breeding including any water-filled cointainers indoors. Alternatively, completely cover them to keep out mosquitoes.

PREVENTION IS

CHEAPER
THAN CURE!
