Friday, January 17, 2014 Dear Fifth Grade Parents, Your child will soon embark on the PYP

journey we call Exhibition. As a culmination of their experiences at Le Jardin Academy Lower School, and as students in the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme, every fifth grade student will be involved in an extended inquiry related to the Transdisciplinary theme Sharing the planet. The exhibition presentation will be held April 14-17. Please save these dates to view your childs work. The timeline of this project is from February 14th April 17th. Your childs attendance at school throughout this unit of inquiry will be vital. In particular, during the week of April 7-11, groups will be finalizing their written reports and group presentations. We will hold an important parent information session on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. in the Dahl Multipurpose Room. At this time, well share more about the process and specific expectations for students and parents. The first steps toward Exhibition will be to look at the theme, brainstorm possible topics of interest, examine the action cycle and how it can impact a community, and listen to guest speakers discuss different topics that relate to social responsibility. Your support for this process is important. Your interest and questioning of the day-to-day process, as well as assistance with field trips and volunteer projects, is part of how you will be involved. Thank you for your support.
