VOLLEYBALL

I. OVERVIEW A. HISTORY In 1895, William G. Morgan, created the game of volleyball called mintonette. In 1896, the first official game of Volleyball was played at Springfield College. In 1913, volleyball was held in the Far Eastern Games. This was the first official volleyball competition. The set and spike was first executed in the Philippines in 1916. This offensive system altered how the game was played. The Filipinos created the kill, known in United States as bomba. The bomba was named after the attacker called the bomberino. B. Player may not hit the ball twice in succession (A block is not considered a hit) D. A ball hitting a boundary line is in E. A ball is out if it hits 1. an antennae, 4. the referee stand or pole, 2. the floor completely outside the court, 5. the ceiling above a nonplayable area 3. any of the net or cables outside the antennae, III.
