Simon realises that the beast doesnt exist and rushes to tell the others that they arent in danger. The problem is Simon runs straight into Jacks feast when Jack and the boys are in a frenzy and dancing. The boys see this as an opportunity to kill Simon, the only person that wasnt involved with this was Piggy. They later use the excuse it was dark or we were confused to hide from the fact they killed Simon. Key quotes: The Lord of the Flies hung on his stick like a black ball- The pigs head is covered in flies, its decaying much like the mannerisms of the boys which are deteriorating as they turn savage. There were no words, and no movements but the tearing of teeth and claws Golding makes the boys seem animalistic by using very violent verbs, this also shows us that the boys are enjoying the thrill of the kill.
