By: Emily Marsh Honsberger BTT101 Due Date: Wed. Oct 16

In The Beginning
The very first computer made called the difference engine was created in 1786 by J.H Muller. It was then reinvented by Charles Babbage in 1822. This computer is different from the computing devices today because that computer could only:
- Calculate Mathematics

-Give math answers at a rapid pace - Used so people wouldn't have to solve equations ever again

eq

Many people considered this the first computer, but others thought it was the abacus, slide rule, or mechanical calculators that were the very first manual computers.

**The 1st generation computers started in 1946 with ENTAC **

The Early Computers

O Many people attempted O A few early electronic

to create their own version of the difference machine, but they would often crash due to high heat. They also used a lot of power, as stated in the film we watched.

computers from the 40s to the 50s are:

-

Mark 1 Computer Eniac Computers Csirac computer

These early computers, such as Austrillias first computer, ran on very little RAM and were very, very slow, only 0.001 MHZ.

and Generation Computers

3rd Generation
- created between 1965-1974 -increased speed -better efficiency

rd 3

2nd Generation

-cheaper than 1st -more efficient -more reliable -transistors -much smaller

- networking
-silicone chips

VisiClac
O VisiCalc was revolutionary and very important

in the creation of computers. It was the first spreadsheet program and it was turned into a business tool.
