The characters in commercial fiction are two-dimensional and easily identifiable because it focuses on the exciting plot. Literary fiction has complex characters that show insight into human nature. 2. Distinguish between direct and indirect presentation of character in fiction. Direct presentation is when the author to state the characters intentions and motivations while indirect has the characters demonstrate their intentions through their actions. 3. Review the terms flat character, round character, and stock character. Flat characters arent unique and are usually very blunt with their personalities. Round characters have many traits and have mixed agendas while being distinct individuals. Stock characters are stereotypes that are present in many stories and are easily able to identify. 4. Consider the difference between a static character and a dynamic character. Static characters do not change in the story while dynamic characters have a change of heart or personality during the plot.
