Layton Funk 2nd Period

Commendation
September 2011
A year ago, way back in time when I was a Junior in high school, our class had to take the PSAT, or Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test. At the time, I was scared. However, I was pleasantly surprised that questions on SAT style exams are actually quite easy. So, when I received a letter of commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Program in late September that told me I did a great job (I did not qualify for being a semifinalist, but was among the top 50,000 students in the nation) and that I should be proud of myself. To be honest, I was proud of myself, but I was not too surprised. I knew I had done well on the PSAT and I knew that this program rewarded students who did well on said test so I knew I would get some kind of letter from the National Merit Scholarship Program. I was much more happy about my mothers reaction to this commendation anyway.
