Patriots & Loyalist

The were two groups the Loyalist & the Patriots . Patriots wanted their own country called the u.s.a. Patriots wanted the American colonies to gain their independence from

Britain.
Long ago there were many there were many famous patriots.
Some of those patriots had became presidents like Thomas Jefferson, John

Adams. The most famous patriot at that time was George Washington. The other famous patriots included Paul Revere, Samuel Adams, Ethan Allen, Patrick Henry, and Ben Franklin.

Not everyone in A lot of people felt that

American colonies wanted to break away from the British. There were a lot of people wanted to stay part of Britain and remain British citizens (Loyalist)

their lives would had been better off if the colonies had remained under British rule. And some of these people were afraid to go against the might of the British army.

The Loyalist had lost the war there arent as many famous

Loyalist as there were Patriots. Like Benedict Arnold, was a general who fought for the British. Another famous Loyalist was Joseph Galloway, Thomas Hutchinson, Andrew Allen, John Butler, and David Butler. During the war life was very difficult for the Loyalist. A lot of the Loyalist had left the country and had went back to Britain. The others had decided to help the British fight the Patriots. A lot of loyalist moved to England after the war. Many of them had lost their fortunes and also land that they built up over the years in the Americas. The united states had wanted the loyalist to stay. They felt the new country could use some of their skills and education, rand a few stayed however

The Virginians from all walks of life served in

the continental army. And these in Patriots fought for independence that had finally led to the British surrender army. In the town of Lexington the next morning Patriots, their guns at the ready made their stand. The first shots of the Revolution rang out.
