Ghana is a country on the West Coast of Africa.

The Capital of Ghana is Accra, a city that is located at the south, near the shore. Their official language is English. The government sponsors nine languages, akan, dagaare, dangbe, dagbane, ewe, ga, gonja, kasem, nzema, but there are also many other languages spoken in Ghana that do not belong to this list. It used to be formerly known as the Gold Coast. It was the first country in subSaharan Africa to gain independence in 1957. Its ancient name was Wagadugu after the medieval Ghana Empire of West Africa. Agriculture dominates the country, which employs about 40 percent of the working population. Ghana has an estimated population of 22 million, drawn from more than one hundred ethnic groups. They lead the exportation of cocoa around the world, but also they provide other commodities such as lumber and gold. There are more than one hundred ethnical groups living in Ghana. The festivals in Ghana are colorful because they have a historical, religious and social background in their culture. All of them belong to their roots and were not taken from other cultures. Soccer was one of the most important traces that there were left after the colonization and this sport is well known and recognized in the country. Despite that, Ghana has several problems with diseases to deal with.
