TRIGONOMETERY

The word trigonometry is derived from two

Greek words trigonon and metron Which means triangle and to measure.therefore trignometry means to measure triangle. Trignometery is that brach of mathematics which deals with angles, whether of triangle or any other figure.

TRIANGLE
ALTITUDE = AB HYPOTENUSE = AC
Altitude

BASE = BC

BASE

There are six trignometris ratios

Sin = Altitude / Hypotenuse Cos = Base / Hypotenuse tan = Altitude / Base Cosec =Hypotenuse / Altitude Sec = Hypotenuse / Base Cot = Base / Altitude = AB / AC = BC / AC = AB / BC = AC / AB = BC / AC = BC / AB

Results
Cosec = 1/sin sec = 1/cos Cot = 1/tan tan = sin /cos
Sin2 + Cos2 =1
1+Tan2 = Sec2 1+Cot2 = Cosec2

Cot = cos /sin

Question
C
If AB =3 and AC = 4 Then find

BC=? Using Pythagoras theorem BC2=AC2+AB2 BC2= (4)2+(3)2 BC2= 16 + 9 BC2= 25 BC = 5
