Course Expectations

Course Content: The purpose of this course is to help students use knowledge of the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services to make personal and societal decisions about the use of scarce resources. Major units of study will include: Individual, ousehold, ! "usiness #hoices, $conomic %ystems ! the &ole of 'overnment, and Trade. Course Requirements: Throughout the duration of this course, students will be e(pected to be attentive, active participants in class discussions, group projects, debates, etc. The course demands an e(traordinary amount of participation and students will be asked to work with others regularly. In addition, students will be re)uired to write and take notes daily. %tudents are re)uired to come to class with all necessary materials each day *pencil+pen, books, agenda, homework,. Homework: %tudents will be assigned homework on a regular basis. -nless otherwise specified, assignments are due at the beginning of class. Late assignments will not be accepted. In the event of an absence, students will be given two days to make up work *class work, homework, tests, )ui..es, for every one day of absence. It is the student/s responsibility to obtain the missed assignments. Long-term and group assignments must be turned in on the due date whether or not the student is in class on that day. Grading System: 0ssignment and assessment point totals will vary depending on difficulty and the amount of preparation re)uired. 1aily assignments will typically be worth 23 points and will be scored based on answer correctness and completeness. 0ssessment point totals will vary. 'rades will be updated on 4ower%chool regularly and students should check their grades often. In computing semester grades, 356 of the grade will be in7class and homework assignments and 356 will based on assessments such as )ui..es, tests, essays, and projects. This grade will represent 856 of the final semester grade. The remaining 956 will be the final e(am grade. Attendance: &egular attendance is critical to the learning process. %tudents are e(pected to attend class daily. %even or more absences may result in loss of credit. *%ee 0ttendance 4olicy in %tudent andbook, In addition, tardiness will not be tolerated. $ach tardy beyond the first will earn the student a detention.
