    This rubric evaluates a student's understanding of rhythms, beats, and measures in music. It contains four criteria: identifying the number of beats in a measure based on the time signature; identifying the note value that corresponds to the bottom number of the time signature; counting beats accurately in measures containing notes and rests; and correctly placing barlines to divide measures containing notes and rests into the appropriate number of beats. Points are awarded on a 4, 3, 2, 1 scale for each criterion based on the accuracy of the student's work.
