Hoeffel asks Montco DA to investigate Castor

By KEITH PHUCAS, Special to the Times

COURTHOUSE - Montgomery County Commissioner Joseph Hoeffel III will urge the county District Attorney's Office
to investigate commissioner Bruce L. Castor Jr.'s political campaign activities during his 2004 primary election
campaign against Attorney General Tom Corbett. Hoeffel believes Castor may have violated county ethics code by e-
mailing and talking about the campaign in his office during working hours.

Castor, a former county D.A., testified in the trial of former state Sen. Vince Fumo Monday that he exchanged e-mails
and had verbal conversations about his campaign with Christian Marrone, a former assistant district attorney who had
worked on Castor's campaign.

In e-mail Tuesday, Castor described the campaign-related communication more than six years ago as "short e-mails"
and "incidental" conversations.
