News

Religion: This week we are talking about the Mass. We read the Bible story of the Last Supper. We are learning more about the parts of the church and have started practicing Mass responses.

Reminders
*Catholic Schools Week begins on Saturday. Join us for our Open House from 2:00-4:00 and at the 5:00 Mass. *Student Council Survival Kit drive begins on Monday. We will collect items all week long. *January/February book order is due by Thursday, January 30. Please make checks payable to Scholastic Book Clubs. *Read every day. Record minutes read on the Read to Succeed log and earn a ticket to Six Flags.

Reading: We are working with long vowel sounds spelled with 2 vowel letters. Using a 5 step process from the Superkids program, we wrote our first long story. These wonderful stories are on display in the hall outside our classroom.
Language Arts: This week we worked on our next Daily Oral Language booklet. Using this booklet we will review and practice grammar and writing skills. Math: We are working with shapes. We have been practicing identifying solid figures: cube, sphere, cone, rectangular prism, and cylinder. Using math vocabulary, we are describing the shapes. We are naming and describing plane figures: circle, square, triangle, pentagon and rectangle. We practiced drawing and cutting shapes using a line of symmetry. Next week: Edible Geometry. Science: We read stories about the solar system, the planets, the moon and the sun.

Star of the Week


Henry was our Star this week. He brought some of his favorite things to share with us. He showed us some great photos too. His dad was our guest reader this week. Henry and his dad took turns reading a story. You are a super star, Henry!
