January 21-24 Plans

Currently in math we are working on multiplication and division. We will review the meaning of division, the meaning of multiplication, and multiplication facts. While we are all working towards memorizing all of mulitiplication facts we will also review how to use a multiplication chart to help us with multiplication and division. Common Core Standards: 3.0A.4, 3.0A.5, 3.0A.6 Our main focus of the week will be division facts. Students should be able to fluently multiply and divide within 100, using strategies such as the relationship between multiplication and division. We will be using our word problem strategies to solve multiplication and division word problems in situations involving equal groups, arrays, and by using drawings and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem. Common Core Standards: 3.0A.3, 3.0A.7 In addition we will be working with fractions to understand fractions as the quantity formed by 1 part when a whole partitioned into equal parts and understand a fraction as a quantity formed by parts. We will also book at percentages of 100%, 75%, 50%, and 25%.

Things to work on at home: Breaking a whole into equal parts. Multiplication Facts (1-10) Division Facts (1-10) Addition and Subtraction with Regrouping Regrouping across Zero Adding and Subtracting Money Place Value (standard, expanded, and written form)
