AP World History Notes 10/22/13 announcements- essay on Friday, readings on Abbasids etc due on FRIDAY!

Slavic people are able to write. This is the beginning of Russian history. Poland, Hungary, and Czech. Western Europe is non-communist. Western Europe is influenced by Catholicism. There are some powerful kingdoms that grow and shrink. Poland becomes imperial. Lithuania becomes imperial. By 1793, there isnt a map of Poland, because it got divided and given to Russia and other countries. Theres a big migration of Jewish folks into Eastern Empire because they were oppressed by the Sassinids and the Byzantines. Jewish communities fled. The Russians were slavs, and the Vikings come down looking for routes to Baghdad. The Slav capitol was Nov Gorod and then it moved to Kiev. Kiev was the first capitol of Russia. The mongols invade Kiev, but they burn it to the ground. Its now a ruin. There are two evolutions happening. Latin and catholic, and orthodox and greek. The Russian serfs go down in status.
