The San Angelo Symphony is a symphony orchestra serving San Angelo and the Concho Valley.

Their mission is to promote the highest caliber music programming with an emphasis on symphonic music for the enjoyment and enrichment of [their] audiences. The San Angelo Symphony has an annual budget of circa $500,000. The SAS has fifty-nine musicians, some which are music department faculty at Angelo State University. The SAS Board of Directors consists of thirty-four board members and seven honorary members. There are three full-time employees and a part-time finance officer. The Music Director and Conductor is Hector Guzman, and the Executive Director is Courtney Collins Mahaffey. The SAS season stretches from October through April but its highlight is the July 3rd Pops Concert at the River Stage along down-town San Angelo circling the Concho River. The SAS performs in various venues around San Angelo, including the McNease Convention Center, the Angelo State Auditorium, and the Angelo State Junell Center.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic is a tier one orchestra with an outstanding budget of $98 million dollars. The LA Phil consists of 103 musicians. Their season is from September through June and varies in classical music, jazz and pops. The LA Phil has been performing in the Walt Disney Concert Hall since 2003. When speaking with the LA Phils Human Resources and asking what tier orchestra, the lady replied, Oh God, uh, like what standard of playing? Gustavo Dudamel is the Music Director, John Adams is the Creative Chair, and Jeffrey Neville is the Personnel Manager. The LA Phil has departments in Administration, Community/Public Affairs, Education, Human Resources, Marketing, and Press Department.
