Labsheet 1 : Conduct stereoscopic vision using mirror stereoscope

OUTCOMES

RTA : 4 hours

Students will be able to conduct stereoscopic vision using mirror stereoscope

PURPOSE/Objective
Students should be able to construct 3D viewing

INSTRUCTION 1. Locate and mark the location of the principal points on the aerial photo 2. Locate and Mark photo base 3. Measure photo base

EQUIPMENTS i. Mirror stereoscope

ii. Pairs of photo iii. Ruler and pencil

WORKING PROCEDURES 1. Orienting Photos for Stereoscopic Viewing 2. In viewing a stereo-pair of photographs, the left eye looks at the left photo and the right eye looks at the right photo. It is essential that the photos be oriented in the exact relative position as which they were taken. 3. Arrange the photos in order by print number. Determine which photo overlaps the other one. 4. Align photos along flight line with straight edge. 5. Locate the principal point (PP) of each photo by drawing a line between the corner fiducial marks. 6. Locate the conjugate principal point (P1 and P2) which is the PP of the adjacent photo 7. Draw the line between the PP and P1 and P2 - this is the flight line 8. Place the stereoscope parallel to line of flight. 9. Move the photos closer or further apart until the images fuse.

(b). procedure for measure base photo. 1. In stereoscopic viewing, it is important to orient the photos so that the left and right eyes see the left and right photos, respectively. 2. Mark the flight line, the photo centers ( principal points) are first located by joining opposite fiducial marks with straight lines. Principal points are shown P1 and P2 3. Corresponding principal points( conjugate principal points), which are the location of principal points on adjacent overlapping photos are marked next. And then marking the corresponding principal points by estimating their position with respect to these surrounding images. The corresponding principal points are shown at p1 and p2.
