Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at 6:30 P.M. at the House of the Bar Association 42 West 44th Street (between 5th and 6th Avenues A hero has passed. Nelson Mandela was the father of South African democracy, which he created by leading the struggle for justice with fortitude and a commitment to equal rights for all. During his presidency, the South African Constitution, one of the most progressive documents of its kind, was adopted, as were other laws protecting fundamental rights. This program seeks to both honor Madibas accomplishments, and also reflect on the legacy of his achievements now that his successors govern. Experts on economics, business and human rights will join the discussion to consider how Mandelas hopes for a Rainbow Nation have been realized.
