Problem 1 PLATE WITH A HOLE Consider the example of a circular hole ina rectangualr plate.

. The plate is A514 steel with a modulus of elasticity of 29e6 & a poissons ratio of 0.3. the thickness of plate is 0.2 in, the diameter of the hole is 0.5 in , the length of the plate is 10 in & the width of the plate is 5 in, as shown below:-

PROBLEM 2 CANTILEVER BEAM MODAL ANALYSIS Consider an aluminium beam that is clamped at one end, with the following dimensions : Length Width Height 4m 0.346m 0.346m

The aluminum used for the beam ha following material properties Density E Poissons ration 2700 kg/m^3 70e9 Pa 0.35

PROBLEM 3 STRESS DUE TO GRAVITY consider the geometry given below, the lender bar is 3 inches wide, 2 inches tall, 50 feet long. The large block on the end of the bar is 9 inches wide, 6 inches tall, & 6 inches long. Both are mad of structural steel with youngs modulus of 2.90075e7 & a poissons ratio of 0.3. the left end if the bar is fixed to the wall, and the geometry is subjected to satandard earth gravity. Calculate the maximum equivalent stress in the geometry.

PROBLEM 4 - HEAT CONDUCTION Consider a hollow cylider of inner radius ri = 1.75 inches, and outer radius ro -3.25 inches. The length of the cylinder is 10 feet & the coefficient of heat transfer is 0.04 Btu/(h.ftF). the temperature of the pipe at the inner radius is 400 degrees farenheit and the temperature pf the pipe at the outer radius is 80 degrees farenheit.
