Essential Skills Evidence Form Standard Demonstrate Global Literacy Skills Demonstrate knowledge of diverse cultural, linguistic, and artistic expressions. Apply a global perspective to analyze contemporary and historical issues Description of Activity/Task/Experience that demonstrates I am at or above standard in the specific skills for the standard mentioned above: In my World Studies class freshman year we participated in a Latin America fair. This fair consisted of various projects being displayed in the library for a day. We were able to pick our topic, and it was an incredibly interesting project. Not only did we get to present our trifold project board to teachers and various adult volunteers, we were able to tour around the library and look at other students projects as well. I learned an enormous amount of Latin American history that day and it really stuck with me. From ancient Mayan rituals to Pokatok, the first recorded ball game, the Latin America Fair helped me become more culturally versed.

Explanation/Reflection of how the activity/task/experience described above meets or exceeds the specific skills of the standard mentioned above: After seeing different forms of art, food, and really all aspects of another culture I feel I am now much more open to different traditions on a global level. Before I would at times judge other cultures and not appreciate them as much as I do now because they are truly intriguing. Not only was there art and food, but there were also some major history events such as the Cuban Missile Crisis. That helped me form a different opinion from another point of view which was fresh and new. It showed me that there are sometimes more than just two sides to every story.
