My Vision of Science Education With the implementation of a new Alberta science curriculum, it is important that future teachers look

for ways to meet the new learner outcomes. This is how I intend to incorporate the new curriculum into my science classes. Increased importance on critical thinking More cross-curricular activities to increase relevance of the subject matter Encouraging creativity and innovative ideas Increased collaboration between students and the community Implementing a variety of teaching methods and strategies Incorporation of global perspectives into lessons Encourage students to engage in life-long learning

Many of these objectives can be achieved by allowing students to explore their ideas and to allow students to work with each other to help foster these ideas. It is also important that students take the time to examine issues outside themselves and consider global and community perspectives.
